Using GTFS Data in ArcGIS Network Analyst

Add GTFS to a Network Dataset - Overview

Add GTFS to a Network Dataset allows you to put GTFS public transit data into an ArcGIS network dataset so you can run schedule-aware analyses using the Network Analyst tools, like Service Area, OD Cost Matrix, and Location-Allocation.

Add GTFS to a Network Dataset consists of a toolbox of custom script tools to pre-process the GTFS data, a custom GTFS transit evaluator you must install, and a user's guide to help you set up your network dataset.

After using these tools to set up your network dataset, you can use Network Analyst to perform transit/pedestrian accessibility analyses, make decisions about where to locate new facilities, find populations underserved by transit or particular types of facilities, or visualize the areas reachable from your business at different times of day. You can also publish services in ArcGIS Server that use your network dataset.

Esri, the maker of ArcGIS, is seeking to develop better public transit analysis tools. This is a prototype tool designed to solicit feedback and ideas from users. Please contact us to tell us how you are using the tool, how we can make this tool better, and what other transit tools you would like to see.
